The REVEL Canyon City Marathon is a great way to stay in shape while competing against seasoned runners in the hope of clinching the top prize. There are tons of reasons why people are lining up in wait for this marathon, and it is not just because this run is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. The route taken is pretty easy for runners as most of the course is down a hill. As such, runners will not need to use much energy along the route.
In addition to this upside, there are lots of breathtaking views along the way. They include the Angeles National Forest, the San Gabriel River, reservoirs, and mountains and the Azusa Canyon. With these beautiful sights in view, runners will have an exhilarating time competing amongst each other.
Runners participating in the races will meet at the Crystal Lake Café from whence the competition will begin. This stop is approximately twenty-five miles up Highway 39. From the café, runners will take the Crystal Lake Road which they will follow for two miles before joining the Highway 39 for another twenty-three miles. Most of this route is smooth, and given the fact that it is downhill, the race will be a breeze for the participants. It is along this path that runners will have a chance to sight valleys and mountains and enjoy a cool breeze as they make their way to down the canyon.
From the canyon, the participants will then follow the Azusa Avenue from where they can enjoy the shade under the palms adorning the streets. At this point, the runners will have an average of two miles to go before coming to an end. Palms line the roads which the runners will use as from this point including the 9th Street, Palm Drive, and Foothill Boulevard.
The course will come to an end in Azusa, adjacent to the City Hall where the winners will get their awards and their entry into the upcoming marathon races such as the Boston Race.
This route features most of the beautiful scenery which participants in the marathon race will get to see. What’s more, it has an elevation of almost one thousand feet which allows runners to have an easy time going down this route. As opposed to the marathon which starts twenty-five miles up Highway 39, this route begins eleven miles up the same highway at the Off-Highway Vehicle parking area. From here, participants will follow Highway 39 for eleven and a half miles as they enjoy sights such as mountains and valleys before joining the Azusa Avenue and following the marathon route as from this point.
The course also comes to an end at Azusa where winners will get the recognition that they deserve as they gear up for the subsequent races.
This event will surely be notable, both to the participants as well as fans in attendance. With such beautiful scenery adorning the routes and the ease of the race, it is no wonder that people are in such high spirits about this race. Best of luck to all participants!
